7 Tips For Choosing a Yoga Studio

Yoga does wonders for the mind and the body. Once you start your yoga practice, you will get hooked. But before you start, you need to find the right studio to make your yoga home. Here are seven tips on choosing the right studio for you.

1. A Trained Teacher

The first thing you need to look for is the right teacher. Make sure your teacher is certified. Then make sure the teacher’s teaching style is right for you. There are a lot of great teachers out there, but it is very much about fit. Test out different instructors to find your favorites.

2. A Well Equipped Studio

Look for a clean well lit studio with all the amenities you need. If you go straight to work, make sure there are enough showers. If you always forget your yoga mat or towel, make sure they have rentals. In a time crunch? Make sure parking is quick and easy. The yoga studio needs to be a welcoming environment for you so you will feel motivated to go on a regular basis.

3. Go Somewhere Accessible

Picking a studio far away can create commuting hassles. Make it easy for yourself and choose one close to your work or your home.

4. Follow the People

This isn’t to say you shouldn’t enroll in a class/studio that is just up and coming. However, there are benefits to going to classes with other people in it. You can watch the more experienced students and learn from them. You can also ask your fellow students questions. Plus, more students means more opportunities to make new friends.

5. Test Out Studios

Just because you go to one yoga studio does not mean that you have to choose it. Make a list of five yoga studios near you and go visit them. Once you find the one that perfectly suits your needs, challenge yourself to go there a set amount of times a week.

6. Affordability

Not all yoga studios are expensive, and prices tend to depend on the instructors, location, and facilities available. You don’t always have to pick a more expensive establishment in order to get the best facilities. Most studios offer a test class or a test week. Take advantage of those offers before you pick your studio.

7. Know the Benefits

Research the benefits of yoga. It is easier to stay motivated when you know you are doing good for your body. Take note of how great you feel after class so the next time you want to stay home, you can motivate yourself to get to the studio.
