Learn to practice and teach Jared’s signature yoga class, JM Vinyasa, with clarity and precision. This intensive 200hr training will be hosted at Meta Yoga Salisbury, just 20 minutes from Ocean City Maryland, with Jared McCann and Rebecca Causey, who share over 38 years of teaching experience. Our time together will be an immersion in yoga asana, anatomy, philosophy and practice-teaching. We will cultivate a daily asana and meditation practice and study each posture in-depth from the perspective of student and teacher.
This 200hr JM Vinyasa Teacher Training offers trainees a strong foundation on which to build their teaching skills and personal movement + meditation practice. Designed to support students who have never taught before, we also welcome teachers from other movement backgrounds and yoga lineages who would like to integrate this challenging and dynamic practice into their offerings. Students who complete all elements of the training will be eligible to receive a 200hr certification from Yoga Alliance, or add it to a previous or future 300hr certification to meet the 500-RYT requirement.
200hr Teacher Training Focus:
1. Refine trainee’s own personal asana practice
2. Study the asanas (postures) in-depth with daily posture clinics
3. Practice how to cue, sequence + teach a JM Vinyasa class effectively
4. Understand anatomy + physiology as applied to yoga asana, including how to guide students with limitations and injuries
5. Establish when and how to give safe and effective hands-on adjustments
6. Incorporate Yoga history and philosophy into your practice and teaching
7. Develop a Sadhana practice (meditation, mantra, and pranayama)
8. Utilize breath and bandhas to increase stability, strength and energetic awareness
Qualifications:
1. You should have a regular, consistent yoga (asana) practice for at least 1 year.
2. If you have an injury that limits you from practicing certain poses, we still invite you to join us and modify (or skip) poses as necessary.
3. Come with a willingness to learn and participate to the best of your ability every day.
Preparation:
To prepare for the training (and meet the 200hr requirements), enrolled students should complete the following homework and self-study for (at least) 40 days prior to the start of training:
1. Practice JM Vinyasa at least 3 times weekly (on-demand classes taught by Jared + Rebecca provided)
2. Study cues from the JM Vinyasa Teacher Training Manual and watch video tutorials
3. Maintain a daily seated meditation practice (ideally 5-10 minutes in the morning and evening).
Requirements* for certification and successful completion of the training:
1. Complete all required assignments within 3 months of the completion of the 2 week in-person program.
2. Full attendance at all sections of the live training.
3. Ability to teach a JM Vinyasa class using JM vinyasa cues and integrate teaching feedback from Jared + Rebecca.
*Trainees who do not meet these requirements will not be eligible for Yoga Alliance Certification. Trainees who do not plan to seek certification are absolutely welcome but still expected to attend and participate in all aspects of the training, including teaching practice.
Lodging Options:
Residence Inn Salisbury is located directly across the street from Meta Yoga if you prefer to be close by without the need for a car. Otherwise trainees. Meta Yoga is located in the commercial part of town so if you book an Air Bnb will need to plan for transport to/from the studio via rental car or Uber. The city is small so Uber/Lyft should not be expensive, especially if shared between two or more people.
The Courtyard by Marriott is a 1-mile drive from the studio. We have arranged a special group rate with them of $239/night. The booking begins the day prior to the training (July 10) and checkout is scheduled for the day after (July 25). Bookings here must be made no later than JUNE 10th — the rate expires after that. These rooms have one king bed with a pull out sofa. If you would prefer two queen beds, make a note of it in the reservation and there is a chance one may become available.
In April we will set up a What’s App group for people to connect so they can arrange sharing AirBnb’s, rental cars, etc. It’s also possible some local students will have spare bedrooms available.
Airports:
The most common airport to fly into is BWI, about a 2 hour drive to the studio. Shuttle buses to Salisbury are available if you choose not to rent a car. Salisbury also has a small airport that is a short Uber drive to the studio, however, flights are limited, so it’s best to book well ahead of time.
